Richard Keith Bennett
My family’s history in Cilfynydd dates back to the 1880’s, though my wife and I have spent all our working lives in Cardiff. In this time we chose to live in Cilfynydd and we still reside there today.
I obtained a HND in Business Studies from Treforest College and became an Associate of the Chartered Institute of Secretaries and Administrators.
My local Government career began in 1969 in the Clerks Department at Mid Glamorgan County Council. I also worked in the Chief Executives Department as well as the Highways and Transport Department until my early retirement in 1996.
I am married to Gaynor, a retired SRN who worked in A+E at Cardiff Royal Infirmary. We have a daughter Rachel and two granddaughters Alexandra and Elizabeth.
My interest lies in the Environment and I am a Life Governor of the Royal Welsh Agricultural Society. I passionately believe in the redevelopment of Pontypridd and I am determined to see it return to its former glory, as a thriving County Town.
My chosen charity for the year is the Wales Air Ambulance.
